SFA Micro Finances

The Smallholder Farmers Alliance Micro Finances program is a program which provides business training and loans to women farmers to assist them with creating and managing secondary business ventures such as the pop up stands shown to the right.

In addition to the micro finances program, the loans that are spoken of are loans for women farmers that range between $100 to $600.

What are Microcredit Loans?: In Haiti, as in many developing countries, women make up close to half the farming population but are largely unable to access financial services. Existing microcredit programs have relatively high interest rates that make them inaccessible for rural farm communities. The SFA loan program is exclusively for women farmers, and provides low-interest loans for agricultural purposes as well as in connection with off-farm small businesses that supplement farm income.
